Swiss fly chartsDepictions of flies have been around since the Middle Ages. Series organized by season or by a specific type of fly are intended to give the viewer an impression of what the flies look like and often include additional information on their use In more recent times, fly charts served as references for manufacturers, who took them along to sales meetings with fishing tackle dealers in order to realistically demonstrate a selection of flies for ordering Swissflies has a large collection of Swiss original flies and original fly charts. Some of these are shown on this page.
Fly charts are a sight to behold and are ideal for display behind glass in a fly-fisher’s room, a lodge or a clubhouse. Original historical boards are part of our cultural heritage and are generally not for sale. However, Swissflies is happy to offer you fly charts faithful reproductions with fly remakes or even original flies- as far as still in stock.

Original Fly Chart Bickel CDC 401-424Big image/ Zoom The flies of the 401-424 series are the first documented CDC (cul de canard) flies in Switzerland. Based on their position in the Mouches de Vallorbe fly book, they must have been tied for the first time around 1924. Charles Bickel was experimenting with all kinds of feathers at that time.
